TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Klukas and Corner wanted to create a projection mapped dress for MakeFashion in 2014, but the technical requirements of having projection system move in sync with a model down the runway were too challenging. The second concept for the dress involved a projector facing outwards from inside the model’s skirt. While this would allow the projector to move with the model, the light effect resulted a transparent skirt: not the best look.
The third, and final concept included a projector inside a hat, shining down on the front of the model. Lumen Couture’s “hacked projector” has been stripped down to remove extra materials to keep the hat as lightweight as possible. The battery pack, one of the heaviest elements, is counter-weighted at the back of the head.

As a design manager at Amazon, she is passionate about developing designers into leaders by inspiring creativity and big thinking. Chelsea pairs a fine arts background and passion for design with data-driven sensibilities in her career and hobbies.
Chris Corner
Chris Corner is a telecom engineer, and entrepreneur. Following on to his international career in the telecommunications industry, he co-founded nConference conference calling where he is now CEO.
